Day 6: In Ghana - Our National Theater of Ghana Concert Performance Special Guests of the Pan-African Youth Orchestra
So folks, we have arrived at the beautiful National Theater of Ghana. We are performing in their outdoor performing space. The Setup is basically like the Eggs Swyer Theater, Albany, NY. I love it. You can see everyone's beautiful faces. Our friend Naa will be live streaming the concert.
Once Naa goes Live she will have tagged me and you will be notified because it will start streaming via my FB page . If for some reason you don't get notified, please just plan on visiting me on FB.
Concert time is 7:30 pm GMT which means 3:30 pm EST.
Hope you can join us but don't sweat it if you can't. It will be recorded multiple ways and we will be getting a copy which of course I will share.
Thank you so much for all of your loving inspiring words and energy being sent our way during this most remarkable life changing experience.
Love and hugs to you all -
Ghana: Day 6 Aug 17th con't
Well - First, I must say that I am still "Flying High" from our absolutely amazing concert last night at the beautiful National Theater of Ghana featuring an evening honoring the founder of the Pan African Youth Orchestra, Na Na Danso.
To say that the moment we started my face hurt because of the smile I had from ear to ear. I was performing in AFRICA and immediately was connecting with everyone in the theater. So happy that the lighting was such that I could literally see the faces, smiles, eyes and that curious, but warm loving welcoming energy.
As soon as we started the curiosity immediately turned to heads bopping, phones recording and those Smiles!!!
We learned that we were in the presence of several diplomates from Israel, Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates, and the US.
Wonderful company to be with.
A life long dream realized and came to fruition. Again, I will say Thank you to God, my family and everyone of you for your continued support in what I am blessed to do.
50 years in waiting and I Performed for Africa and in return I received BIG Smiles and Hugs.
Changed life for sure.
My apologies if this hits you a bit melodramatic. But, it's how I feel.
Thank you to so many of my friends from FB that tuned in and enjoyed our concert. Your comments were wonderful. I told everyone here how you all were with us. If you were not able to be with us or perhaps connected after Heards's set, please see below a video to enjoy what unfolded during our set
Concert opens with a brilliant Folkloric Artist: Mr. Merica performing on one of Ghana's oldest instruments the “Goje” a single string Violin, accompanied by our friend and bandmate Zorkie Nelson on the Donno (Talking Drum).
Heard's performance was the first half of the concert
The renown 26 piece Pan-African Orchestra holds an iconic role in Ghana. They are a national treasure. The Orchestra is comprised of Traditional Instruments from all over the country of Ghana: under the direction / Conductor: Kweku Kwakye. This concert kicks of a 1 year run of performances celebrating the PAYO Founder / Composer and Kweku's Father the late: Nana Kwakye
